Have been working a ton of hours at the job that pays the bills so the creativity and life blood have been sucked dry for the time being. Maybe I’ll find some inspiration in Michigan in a couple of weeks while riding the Tour DaVita, or maybe not, it is Michigan.
Anyway it’s a beautiful day and I should be out in and not writing the imaginary friends I have on the interweb.
Cheers

New Shirt Designs
Some new shirt designs from Xvelo. You will find these at VeloSwap in Denver as well as my Etsy site on the interweb. You may also contact me and I’ll be happy to take your money and probably send you a shirt. They will be made from bamboo or hemp (i know the hippie shit) and organic vegetable dyes with a hand-screened design. You will like them for sure, especially because they’ll be in the 18-20 dollar range.
Only because it’s ironic and funny but not ironic or not even funny…
I’m working on the designs now, then I’ll deal with the logistics of getting shit done and then you will buy one. Cheers for now.
Sweet old Schwinn #2
More from the Rocky Mountain Bike Show…
I know what you’re saying, this guy attends one cool thing per year and then can’t fucking shut up about it. Well…You’re right. This is a photo from Luxury Lowriders booth. It is a sweet old Schwinn with great lines and even cooler headlight.
Any way click on the pic and see some more “great” photos from the show. I’m sure there are some other great anecdotes there to please the literary minds that read this drivel.
The website is hideous but the bikes and the people are good folk. Check em out here
Ok the above bike is one of the coolest in the history of all bicycles. It’s a Rene Herse branded bike made here in Colorado. To come from one of the greatest ‘Constructeurs’ of all time, it’s a fantastic homage to the old French guy himself. For the price of ~10k you can have one made to you’re exact specifications and you will ride it long into the cockroaches rule of earth.
A picture of one my favorite bikes from the show. It is a buttery smooth 29er 2 speed from Victoria Cycles out of Salida Colorado. The lines are so smooth and the welds beyond clean. The green, I could leave it or lump it but the bike itself is fast on the floor. Typical shiny bits of metal adorned her green exterior, including a slick two speed transmission from White Industries. One for the hill and the other for the long road home, pretty slick stuff.
Hipsters rule!
I think all the kids in the tight pants need to put on their leotards and actually figure out how to ride. Even better than Kevin Bacon, these chicks rule! I think they’re even listening to Bryan Adams, he also rocks!
Rocky Mountain Bike Show 2009
Sexy use of Rohloff by Black Sheep Bikes, originally uploaded by steve_mitchener.
Short report today for the show, I know it was Saturday but I’m lazy. I got a ton of fantastic shots from the day. It was filled with amazing parts and bikes from some of the best in the bicycle business. I made about 6 laps around the 70 or so vendors, stopping and chatting with almost all of them. But then the microbrews came in…Oskar Blues was representing hard with Chad pouring some of the best beers Colorado has to offer and Avery and Great Divide were throwing down too. Monsterous props to Great Divide for their Hoss brew, a rye grained brew with enough hops and tasty dark malts to give an amazing flavor profile and enough ABV to getter done so to speak.
After enough beer and bikes we pedaled back into the city for another quick beer before a great day had come to an end.
I have a ton of photos, just click the sexy Rohloff hub above and you’ll be taken to the Flickr site to get the full run down of each of the bikes at the event.
All for now…Cheers….
Tour DaVita!!!!
OK it’s been waaaaay to long for me to post this but I am now. I’m going to Michigan for the Tour DaVita next month and the Kidney Trust needs donations. We will be riding 250 miles over three days to raise awareness of kidney disease and help solve the issues surrounding it.
Donate to the cause here at the Tour DaVita Website.
I’ll have full pictures and breakdown of the ride and the beautiful countryside of Michigan when I get back.
