Some cable routing on the next bike. Wish i would have moved the chainstay guides just a bit closer to the BB. As this is my bike I won’t mind so much but I can’t help but think, what if i wanted to make one for someone else? Probably not, this would turn to work instead of Zen, I’ll keep my real job and it’ll all be good enough…
Campy dropouts for next bike
Long time no post…
I’ve been really busy with the real world (paying) and there has been no time for bikes or anything else for that matter. There is a minor lull in the world now so it’s time get started on the next bike. It should be something slightly interesting with drum brakes and other neat stuff. Here is the first picture from the new build. Modified, lower end Campagnolo dropouts with dérailleur hanger removed for Sturmey-Archer hub. I thought these will work way better with the fenders than the rear entry versions so we’ll see how it turns out.

Pedaled downtown today to check out the announcement of the new Quizno’s Pro Cycling Extravaganza or whatever it’s called. Then went and pedaled to Wash Park with Lance Armstrong and Governor Ritter (and 10k other people) This should be wicked for the state and I promise not to be one of the fruit bags in a thong with horns on my head fucking with the racers, I’ll be obnoxiously drinking beer and cussing from a far. More info here it sure is funny to see how many ignorant morons live in this fine state. But luckily for us they’re all unemployed and only have time to post to semi-literate news sites. It keeps them off the streets.
Cheers
Bamboo Bike mock-up
Holy cow, my first post in what seems to be years… Here it is; This is the Cycles Xvelo Bamboo bike mock-up. So far the plan for this bike will be a single ring up front with some 8 speed internal rear hub. I’ll throw some canti brakes on and some 30c tires and see where I can go from there. Bamboo is a bit weird to work with as it’s more like shop class in junior high. I have the wood working one week and then “plastics” the next. You can see by the shop floor that carbon and Kevlar are not the cleanest things to work with.
Bike should be done by weeks end and pedaling shortly there after, I’ll post results of my broken teeth…

Off to Powda….
All-Road bike, ready for paint. She’ll get a nice media massage and then the oven with some nice powder coating. Settled on RAL 6025, a nice fugley green color. Let’s see how she looks with the whicket components are strapped on her. Unfortunately the 40c tires won’t fit too well in the rear so the big bike theory for this bike will be 43/32 and remember to be light on the rear for the dual fixed/free or 43/40 for a single speed with the ends of the drop outs being utilized..
